Ergonomic rear seats

Passengers can settle into three rear seats. The two outer seats are full-sized and ergonomically designed. 

On the Ultra trim, they both recline individually at the touch of a button and have extended cushions for extra thigh support. For added luxury, the outer seats are heated on both trims and ventilated on the Ultra trim (optional on the Plus trim).

Centre console and dashboard shelf

A minimalist shelf gracefully extends from the dashboard to support the centre display. It also provides a comfortable place to rest your hand while using the touchscreen. Scroll playlists and adjust audio volume by spinning the crystal media control at the bottom of the shelf. There’s also a hidden spot behind the shelf for things like coins or lip balm.

There’s more storage in the centre console. Lift the padded armrest to reveal an illuminated storage compartment, perfect for road trip snacks. Slide back the roll-top cover to access two cupholders. It also has room for house keys or a wallet. 

Lounge armrest

Available on the Ultra trim, the rear lounge armrest can be lowered to amplify second-row comfort, without compromising the sense of openness. The armrest is generously padded and finished in natural wood. Cupholders lift out automatically when passengers pop open the front cover. Behind the cupholders, there’s a dedicated spot for phones. And when the armrest is lifted, there’s an extra storage compartment.

Electrochromic roof

The panoramic roof runs almost the entire length of the car, allowing natural light to stream in. The tinted glass is infrared-coated and laminated to reduce glare and provide sound insulation. It blocks around 80 per cent of the sun's heat to help keep the cabin cool on sunny days. This can reduce strain on the climate system and may help extend your range.

It’s not just about comfort, though. Laminated glass also helps strengthen the roof for added security in the event of a break-in.

The electrochromic glass changes the opacity of the panoramic roof at the touch of a button. This is standard on the Ultra trim and optional on the Plus trim.

Cabin lighting

Cabin lighting responds to you and your passengers.

A welcome sequence lights up the cabin as you approach. The boot lights up, too, making it easier to pack after dark. Once you engage the gear selector, cabin lights dim to help you focus on the road. This ambient lighting mimics natural sunlight, which brings out the interior’s colours and textures. And when you open the doors to leave, sidestep lights under the doors illuminate the ground.

While you travel, passengers can turn on shaded reading lamps, while soft lighting in the cupholders and storage areas makes it easy for everyone to find things in the dark.

High-level illumination is standard for even more nuanced lighting, including six nature-inspired light themes and back-lit decor.

Ambient illumination

Ambient illumination is standard to transform your car into a luminous retreat.

Gentle backlighting accentuates the natural grain of the genuine wood decor on the dashboard, door panels and seat backs. At night, it glows with a warm, starfall pattern that adds a touch of magic. The pattern even weaves in the Morse code for Volvo, punctuating the level of craftsmanship behind this luxurious interior.

Use the centre display to choose from six light themes. Themes gently shift through nuanced shades of colour inspired by Scandinavian landscapes. Themes include Northern Lights, Archipelago, Forest Bath, Midsummer, Winter Bliss and Moonlight.

Directed sound
Tweeter-on-Top elevates the overall quality of the car’s sound system throughout the cabin. This centrally mounted speaker sits on the dashboard facing into the cabin. Its position relays sound directly towards the car’s occupants, reducing coloration from sound reflected off the windscreen. 

Headrest speaker
Calls, music and podcasts take on extra dimension with the integrated speakers in the front head restraints. Their placement discreetly directs sound straight to the driver and front passenger.
